Audi is working to electrify its Quattro all-wheel drive system.
According to a recent report from Car, the German automaker’s new e-Quattro all-wheel drive will combine a standard gasoline engine with two electric motors with one prototype delivering 408 hp. In that system, a small 54-hp electric motor is used in the transmission while another 116-hp motor powers the rear wheels with the gasoline engine providing 292 hp. Additionally, the vehicle is capable of driving in an all-electric mode powering the rear wheels.

Audi is currently investigating which models will be a good fit for the new e-Quattro drivetrain with possible candidates including the upcoming TTQ crossover and A4 sedan.
